Ancient Arizona flute

Ancient Arizona flute

Many years ago Dr. Richard Payne was given an 1800s 3 hole, two chambered walking stick flute from the Tohono O'odham, (pronounced Thawn-Aw-thum) The Desert People, also known as the Papago. The 29.7 inch flute was made of cane and beautifully decorated with a burned triangle pattern. My replica is very true to the artifact in every way, constructed of durable bass wood, traditional burned triangle pattern, 3 finger holes(right hand side of the picture) and simple air duct. The flute is played by partially covering the two central square holes with your finger. This is an historical flute of simple tuning and ancient design.
